Why Is That?

Life seems to be full of things that make us say, "Why Is That?" Things that seemingly make no sense whatsoever. I chalk them up as those strange incongruities in life that cause us to ponder how they could possibly be true.

For example, the blog software that runs this site is written and owned by Google, yet I can only upload images to my blog by using Microsoft's Internet Explorer and not Google's own Chrome browser.

Why is that? Wouldn't you expect that Google's blog site would work best with Google's browser?

Or why do they even bother to put a front seat DVD player in a car? It's not like you can watch a movie while you are driving and no one on earth would want to sit in their car to watch a movie on a seven inch screen instead of just going inside to watch it on their 50 inch HDTV!

Why is that? Wouldn't you expect the car manufacturers who are always trying to build safer cars to build in features to reduce distractions rather than create them?

Perhaps one of the most incongruous things in my recent experience has to do with my Christmas bonus. My boss generously gives each of us (and each of our wives) a prepaid debit/gift card to purchase whatever we want. Now I receive this gift because of work, so you would think that I would spend it on things other than more work.

But No...

I spent my bonus money on tools so that I could do a number of home improvement projects that I have put off for a long time with the convenient excuse that I didn't have the proper tools to do them. So I essentially robbed myself of the last excuse I had for delaying a bunch of projects around the house by spending my gift from work on things to create create more work for myself!

Why is that?

Some things just aren't meant to be explained...
